Praise to Allah!

Alhamdulillah (Praise to Allah)...

We were sooooo relieved when we got the visas that very Thursday morning, after all the Tawakkaltu Alallah (I have placed my trust in Allah). :)

So yeah, me and husband are now in Melbourne for good, InsyaAllah! Enjoying our Ramadhan in winter. And Alhamdulillah I managed to quit my job and becoming a postgraduate student at RMIT University. :)

And I'm starting to get my mojo back in blogging, cooking, baking & shopping...lol yeah. So I'll be here more often, I think apart from Instagram, Twitter & Facebook.

Till then, Ramadhan Mubarak to you guys! :)

Backyard Barbecue

Recipe: Home-made Caramel Frappuccino

A really good caramel frappuccino from the coffee shop...made right at home by me husband! :)

Home-made Caramel/Butterscotch Frappuccino

Ingredients:

1 cup of strong brewed coffee
(Note: For a little more of a Starbucks flavour, add 2 packages of Via instant coffee instead of liquid coffee)
1 package of Jell-O Instant Pudding, any flavour
(Note: I chose vanilla pudding flavour)
Caramel/Butterscotch sundae syrup
Milk
Ice
Whipped topping

Methods:

1. Add brewed coffee + pudding mix + caramel/butterscotch sundae syrup + milk in blender.
2. Blend it for a minute or two so that all of the ingredients mixed well.
3. Add ice (according to your preference) and blend it to desired consistency (until you no longer hear the ice crushing).
4. Top it with whipped topping and drizzle it with caramel/butterscotch sauce.
5. Enjoy!

Happy Labour Day guys! :)

Recipe: Hot Milk Cloud Cake

Last Thursday marked my 25th birthday but instead of throwing a 'makan-makan' party for friends & family, I opted for just a simple home-made cake and a good quality time with my husband. :)

Initially I wanted to bake my own cake, but then husband was on-board and he wanted to try out baking a cake for me and definitely under my supervision! Lol.

Hot Milk Cloud Cake with Chocolate Fudge Topping
(Recipe taken from Tish Boyle's Cake Book)

Ingredients:

1 1/3 cups of cake flour**
1 1/4 tsp of baking powder
1/4 tsp of salt
1/2 cup of whole milk
4 tbsp of unsalted butter
3 eggs
3/4 cup of granulated sugar
1 tsp of vanilla extract/vanilla bean

**Substitute for cake flour: for every 1 cup of cake flour = 2 tbsp of cornstarch + the rest of 1 cup with all purpose flour

Methods:

1. Sift flour + baking powder + salt TWICE.
2. Combine butter + milk in a saucepan. Remove from heat when butter has just about to melt. Set aside.
3. Beat eggs on high for 1 minute using whisk.
4. Add vanilla extract/vanilla bean + sugar gradually and beat until pale & triple in volume (approximately for 6 minutes).
5. Sift (again!) 1/3 of flour mixture into the egg mixture. Fold it with rubber spatula.
6. Repeat with the remaining flour mixture in 2 more additions.
7. Reheat milk mixture until just under a boil. Add milk mixture into the batter and fold it.
8. Pour batter into a prepared greased pan.
9. Pop it in the oven at 175 degree Celsius for 20-25 minutes.

Betty Crocker's Chocolate Fudge Topping
(If you're lazy, you can use the store-bought Betty Crocker's topping!)

Ingredients:

1 can (12oz) of evaporated milk
2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tbsp of butter
1 tsp of vanilla extract/vanilla bean

Methods:

1. In a saucepan, heat milk + chocolate chips + sugar to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly; remove from heat.
2. Stir in butter + vanilla until sauce is smooth and creamy. Cool about 30 minutes or until sauce begins to thicken.
3. Store covered in refrigerator up to 4 weeks.

National Gallery of Victoria

The National Gallery of Victoria wasn't that far from Domain Interchange tram station (roughly around 5 minutes walk). Or else if you're too lazy to walk, you can just take a tram and stop exactly right outside the National Gallery (Arts Centre tram station).

As for us, we walked our ways up from the National Gallery to Skydeck 88 and to Melbourne CBD. Not that far at all especially with the good weather at that time. :)

Day 2 in Melbourne

We woke up early that morning. Rise & shine. To explore the vibrant city of Melbourne. :)

This is the South Yarra train station which is just in front of its very own tram station. Pretty convenient aight? :)

We envy those cyclists 'coz we're unable to do that in Malaysia. (-_-")

This is near the Domain Interchange tram stop. From here you can just walk yourself up to Shrine of Remembrance & Arts Centre.

Ah.... savoring the beautiful view of this city through walking. :)

2011 Top 100 Wedding Blogs

I'm very much involved in anything wedding nowadays. Just to feed me ( + husband's) satisfaction over, how should I say it...our previous wedding celebration where it's more like it's-not-our-wedding-but-theirs (the family) thingy. But I'd let go everything, few weeks before my wedding. Hence I'm married with an open mind. And praise to god, my solemnization and other wedding events went damn well. Our rezqi perhaps. :)

So as I googled around for more ideas and inspirations for my next client's event, I saw a list of top 100 wedding blogs for 2011. And the best part of it is most of the blogs listed there are definitely my ultimate references and liking which I always go oohh-la-la over their photos. ;)

(Click on photo and it'll redirect you to the website)

Friday please come fast, I wanna check 'em out one by one! :)

Brighton Beach

(Day 1 in Melbourne)

If you're in Melbourne for a holiday, please go to Brighton Beach! :)

We're still in Day 1 and we can't waste our time ber-jetlag in our room 'cause there are so many things to explore in Melbourne. So I texted Kayla asking her whether the nearest train station to Brighton Beach is still in Zone 1 and she said yes! Which is good for us since we spend most of our time in Zone 1 hence we bought the $7 daily rate Metcard (per person). And fyi the daily rate Metcard can be used either for their tram, train and certain bus services (if I'm not mistaken) in Zone 1. So you can travel all day long pergi sini sana with that one Metcard. ;)

To be continued...

The many colors of Prahran

(Day 1 in Melbourne)

Since we arrived Melbourne quite early that morning, we had to wait for few hours before they managed to get us a room that I've already booked earlier. So we go jalan-jalan first and bought a prepaid SIM pack so that we can call back home, which thanks to Maxis for unable to provide us any cheap rates especially when travelling outside Malaysia. :(

Since we had good experience using Lebara service back when we're in London, so we intend to use it again when we're in Melbourne. The SIM pack can be purchased in any convenient stores in Melbourne like 7-Eleven for only $2 per pack. I think most prepaid SIM card pun cost around $2 if I'm not mistaken. However unlike when we're in London, the SIM pack does not come with any prepaid credit. So we bought ourselves the $10 prepaid credit. Hence I'm able to text Kayla that we've safely arrived Melbourne and she suggested us to go and visit Prahran which is just a walking distance from our hotel. :)

The $2.99 iced coffee that we bought at Aldi (their local supermarket). Damn sedap! Lagi sedap from Starbucks punya iced coffee. ;)

There's a saying that if you wanna know the local and the beauty of their place, go and visit their market! We did. :) And we've visited the Prahran Market. Honestly their market is just so beautiful and clean and teratur! My husband memang fell in love with this place/market. ;)
